Critical Explorations in Science Fiction and Fantasy

Critical Explorations in Science Fiction and Fantasy is a series devoted to scholarship in science fiction and fantasy in all media.

Submitting Proposals for the Series
Proposals for studies in science fiction and fantasy are invited in such areas as literature, film, art, popular culture, mythology, and folklore, to name just a few. Proposals should include a prospectus (a general description of the project that focuses on its uniqueness and intended audience, and includes a thorough description of its thesis and mention of the works discussed), a draft table of contents or detailed outline, a one-paragraph description of each chapter that focuses more specifically on its thesis and works covered, a draft of the preface or introduction and at least one sample chapter, a length estimate (75,000-word to 110,000-word projects are preferred), comments on special elements (such as artwork or photos), a proposed deadline for delivery of the completed manuscript, and a resume or curriculum vitae. While most books in the series will be scholarly monographs or edited collections of essays on a unified topic, the series editors also invite proposals for unprecedented reprint volumes of neglected works, with scholarly commentary, and for unprecedented critical biographies of significant writers, artists, and creators.
