Worlds of Whedon

Worlds of Whedon is a peer-reviewed book series which aims to contribute to the growing body of scholarship about the worlds of Joss Whedon. Joss Whedon’s oeuvre includes writing, directing, and producing a number of hit television series, such as Buffy, the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off Angel, as well as cult favorite Firefly and its sequel motion picture Serenity, along with the controversial series Dollhouse. He is also a co-producer of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Recent cinematic forays include The Cabin in the Woods, William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing along with the blockbusters, Marvel’s The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron. Whedon’s works have spawned a legion of fans, who create various types of homages to him, including fiction, films, and other forms of creative works, such as jewelry, clothing, etc.

Submitting Proposals for the Series
McFarland seeks proposals for book-length works. A wide range of topics are welcome, for both monographs and edited volumes. Each query should provide a thorough description of the project focusing on its unique qualities, relevance, and intended audience, and should also include a proposed outline and a brief summary of the presence or absence of similar books on the topic. Full proposals should also include an annotated outline, draft introduction, sample chapter, length estimate (70,000-word to 100,000-word projects are preferred), comments on special elements (such as artwork or photos), and a resume or curriculum vitae.
