A Marine Corps recruiter returns to his old stamping grounds to speak with some of the men he enlisted, their families, and the families of others who were killed in action. Some remember their experience with a sense of patriotism; others are bitter and feel forgotten by their country. Harry Spiller is the author of 18 books and numerous magazine articles. He served for 10 years in the U.S. Marine Corps with two tours in Vietnam. He also served as sheriff of Williamson County, Illinois, and retired as an associate professor of criminal justice from John A. Logan College. He lives in Marion, Illinois.
