Fugitives might flee to another country or state to avoid a trial or an arrest warrant, but because of international extradition treaties, that doesn’t mean they’re shielded from justice. Extradition is the process when a person wanted for criminal activity is given up from one sovereign nation to another sovereign nation, whereas rendition is the proper term used for returning an accused person from one state within the United States to another state. While it may seem to be a simple matter, it has become more complex with the passage of time.
