About the Book

This book allows the reader to walk in the enviable shoes of Rich Marazzi, who has experienced Yankee history and its culture first-hand as a fan, a writer for the Yankees Magazine, a radio talk show host, a writer for Mel Allen, the long-time voice of the Yankees, and currently as a baseball rules consultant who was hired by general manager Brian Cashman in 2004. The author was also trained by Bob Sheppard as a back-up to the legendary Yankee Stadium public address announcer. Marazzi takes the reader inside Yankee baseball by covering life in the Yankee Stadium press box, the dugout, the clubhouse, the umpire’s room and more. He had the honor of umpiring the Old Timer’s Day game at Yankee Stadium for 16 years from 1989-2004.
The book is a compilation of untold Yankee stories culled from interviews of many of the Yankee greats over the last seven decades including Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Phil Rizzuto, Don Mattingly, Derek Jeter and more. The book is not a definitive history of the New York Yankees. Instead, it is a generational storytelling, human interest book that should appeal to fans of all age groups.
