Voices in American Military Aviation

Voices in American Military Aviation is a series of books that describe the personal experiences of individuals who have participated in flight activities in extended or limited combat environments. Any type of aircraft activity can be included: fighters, bombers, cargo, reconnaissance, refueling, helicopters. The flying activity can be associated with any combat era or location: World War I, World War II, Korean, Vietnam, the Gulf Wars, Afghanistan. The narratives can be written by any aircraft crewmember: pilot, navigator, flight engineer, radio operator, gunner, radar operator, maintenance specialist, or mission specialist. The books in this series should appeal to readers based on the vivid description of the experience of flight, especially in aircraft flying in hazardous aerial environments.

Narratives consisting primarily of diaries or letters of aviators of earlier conflicts (especially World War I, World War II, and Korea) will be considered, as long as sufficient background information is provided for readers to understand the flight experiences, including an introduction and necessary contextual information.

Proposals should be sent to series editor David Kirk Vaughan.
