Media Hoaxes: How Far Is Too Far?

A hospital nurse was recently the victim of a hoax call from an Australian radio station concerning Prince William’s pregnant wife, Catherine.  Reports are that the nurse has apparently committed suicide.

The radio show has apologized for the call, saying it “was done with light-hearted intentions.”

History is replete with examples of hoaxes perpetrated via newspapers, radio, television and the internet.  How far is too far with media hoaxes?  Sociologist Robert Bartholomew and Skeptical Inquirer deputy editor  Benjamin Radford ask and attempt to answer this question in The Martians Have Landed!
